Remedial massage is a type of therapeutic massage that aims to alleviate pain and discomfort, improve movement, and promote overall well-being.
This video uncovers the wisdom found in the hands of a world-renowned massage therapist, Jonathan Grassi. Following his unconventional path to healing on the outskirts of Boulder, Colorado, we begin to understand why the art of massage is present in many traditions around the world.
In a deep tissue massage, the masseur focuses on specific blocked areas and problem zones. The concentration of the massage is mainly on the deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue. During the massage, the masseur follows the muscle strands, which are firmly stroked or worked with pressure.
Myofascial release means relaxation in all fasciae. Fasciae are layers of connective tissue which are there to transmit tension and pressure in the body, to maintain the gliding ability between muscles, bones and organs, and to give these support and shape. Among other things, fasciae are equipped with pain and movement sensors.
Remedial Massage is a complementary therapy that aims to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. It is useful for a number of problems that affect muscles, tendons and bones. Some health problems that are often treated with Remedial Massage include sports and dance injuries, muscle spasms, whiplash, muscle atrophy, fibrositis, spondylitis, arthritis, and frozen shoulder.
To get health fund rebates we need to include acupuncture or dry needling therapy as part of the overall treatment.
